The CEMS Club organized a curling event at the beginning of April. None of us had tried curling before so it was fun to discover a new sport. Uncertainty on the birth place of curling still exists but some believe that it started in
Scotland due to written evidence while others point towards the Netherlands due to paintings(http://www.worldcurling.org/history.html). Regardless of the birth place, curling has gained popularity and is nowadays played around the world.
After a few practice rounds of throwing the stones and learning about the rules of the game, we dived into the game in teams of 3-4. Throwing the stones at the right speed and right angle took some practice in addition to balancing on the ice while sweeping it. Excitement spurred through the air as teams were able to place their stones in the middle of the house and kick the other team’s stones out. At the end, we had a fun evening in exploring a new sport.
